Beau Young grew up with one of the most famous and iconic figures in the surfing world, his father: the great Nat Young. Beau and his siblings were all riding the waves long before they could swim. Surfing as much as humanly possible as a child was definitely Beau's way of life, before and after school, always wet was the norm. Results in competitive surfing were slow, but in his mid to late teens there was evidence of promise with junior pro finals in France and Portugal. After finishing school, he went on to a world qualifying series. It was in 1998 in the Canary Islands that Beau made his first major breakthrough on the international competition circuit. With the Canary Islands event, he placed second in the world behind his good friend and longboarding prodigy Joel Tudor. This result triggered the beginning of an incredible professional longboarding career to become double world champion in 2000 and 2003.
Today Beau is dedicated to shaping and Folk music. Just like his music, his shapes are inspired by Australia and his travels. We find the famous Wombat, an iconic shape ultra versatile and powerful. But also singles inspired by Michael Peterson, icon of Australian surfing in the 70's and Morning of The Earth. Finally, his longboards are just like him and will offer you a ride where style rhymes with performance.
