A representative of the post-modern underground "trim" scene of California shapers, Jeff McCallum of McCallum Surfboards has, in his 15 years of shaping, earned an international reputation among lovers of the beautiful board.
He started out in the shaper tradition, sweeping and packing boards at Chris Christenson's shaping shop.
Working with him for 3 years, he learned every step of the board building process and now hand builds every board in his San Diego shop.
Making 6 boards a week, all by hand, his motto is quality not quantity.
Influenced by shapers such as Chris Christenson, Skip Frye, William Riedel, Larry Crow, Bob Simmons and George Greenough, (he had the opportunity to work with some of them), Jeff is back in France for a very limited shaping session.
