Joel Fitzgerald was born and raised on the beaches of northern New South Wales, Australia. He is the son of surfing legend Terry Fitzgerald and founder of Hot Buttered Surfboards. Joel grew up with the Hot Buttered crew and learned to surf by honing his style at North Narrabeen Beach alongside his brothers.
A free thinker and craftsman, Joel is a soul surfer, known among his respected peers and fellow shapers as a talented surfboard innovator and craftsman. Currently residing in Lennox, just a stone's throw from Byron Bay, Joel has spent his life in the surf industry, traveling the world as a professional surfer/shaper and enjoys creating surf boats for ocean lovers. He specializes in shaping twins, single fin and guns that he develops with fellow free surfers Dave Rastovich and Ozzie Wright.
