I was introduced to surfing by my father at a young age and had a great love for the sea. I owe a lot to his generosity in passing on his years of knowledge in surfing and surfboard design. I started shaping at first because it was in our family, but after a while I was really interested and wanted to shape a board that met my own criteria. Something that is user friendly but still offers a level of performance to push the board really hard, have speed, handling and ride.
Neal Purchase Designs is a small family business consisting of myself and my wife Beau. Taka and his team at Sunglassing in Currumbin do the lamination, the fins are thwarted to my specific curves and patterns by Steve and Tracey at Australian Fin Co in Currumbin and I use Burford Blanks for their durable quality foam. Every part of the process is locally made and of the highest quality to support Australian family businesses.
