A lifelong surfer, Stu Kenson is one of San Diego's most respected shapers. Stu founded Evening Glass, and has worked with Weber Surfboards, Rusty, Ken Garden, Joel Tudor and for his own label Stu Kenson Surfboards.
Stu started repairing at the age of 13/14 in California, shaping his first board in the summer of 1971 which turned his life around. Stu lived next door to Clark Foam and worked in a surf shop where Terry Martin was the main shaper. He was inspired mainly by shapers David Craig, Max McDonald, Jeff Mack, Darryl Bulger and Jason Stevenson. But it is his meeting with Rusty Preisendorfer, which allowed him to acquire his knowledge.
Stu Kenson is a world-renowned shaper of performance shortboards, guns and longboards, as well as all the alternative shapes (single, twin, twinzer and egg mid-lenght) he shapes for Joel Tudor.
After working for JS Industrie USA, he continued to develop his label SK Surfboards.
Some of the best surfers rely on Stu Kenson for their boards, including Big Wave World Tour surfers like Shawn Dollar, Colin Dywer, Luca Padua, Will Skudin and Travis Payne.
