Since the age of 14, my life has been dedicated to surfing. It was during my competitive career that I began to develop my great interest in shaping, which started when I was 17 years old in 1987. While I was finishing my degree in Social Sciences, surfing and shaping developed. Being a three-time South African surfing champion and three-time national team member allowed me to use my knowledge of performance surfing to produce functional shapes for surfers who needed them. After shaping over 15,000 surfboards to date, I have honed my skills to design functional shapes for a wide range of surfers while establishing brands such as T&C /Nev /Geraghty and Surf Shapes in South Africa and now Geraghty Shapes here in Australia. In 2012 I moved to Australia to further my knowledge in composite moulding technology and although this takes up most of my time, all my spare time is spent surfing and shaping in my bay, making custom boards designed in Shape 3D, then hand cut and finished for the locals on the Sunshine Coast.
